I believe that Henry Fielding and Jonathan Swift would have been very critical of social media today. They would have been deeply involved in the political satire of the president and how he belittles and constantly attacks the poor and needy. Especially Swift, who was very politically active during his lifetime. Swift saw the poverty and misusing of the poor during his era. He wrote about the poor conditions of poor women and their children. He expressed how the women offered up their children as if they were food for the wealthy. Swift compared the poor children to meals being served to the wealthy. The poor had no choice in their lives, and there was no way for them to escape poverty.
"A Modest Proposal", exposed the greed of society and their feelings for the poor. The poor gave up their children in order to feed their children. They begged almost their entire lives in order to survive from day to day. The poor had no chance of moving up in class, this was a tattooed way of life for them, this was permanent.

The low people in today's society would be the majority Latin Americans. They are the ones that society has handcuffed with laws that prevent them from becoming equal to the American citizens. The President is the head aristocrat, who refuses to allow the low people to have a part of the American justice system.

Blog Post # 8                                                         "The high people signify no other than

people of  fashion, and the low people those of no fashion. The way I interpret fashion, has to do with social status.

Fielding who believed that "a person's social status does not define who they are; virtues, vices, character, morals, values, etc. This is not the belief of today's society. We look at people as high and low people. You are actually judged by the things you posse. From the car you drive, to the house you own or the area in which you rent your apartment, you are being judged by society.

Money makes you known to the world, regardless if you're a wise or foolish man, your money is the makeup which hides your mishaps.

For example, our president, which was wealthy before he became president. He never had to work hard a day in his life, but now that he has become president, he is now required to work for a living. Even though he is the leader of this country, he takes it as a joke, because of his wealth and superior power.

Yes he is a fool, but he is a fool that uses his power to oppress the oppressed and keep the poor poorer than poor.

There is no escaping the fashion in which we were born in. Low people will continue to strive to become a high person, in a society that only sees you for your social status and not your character.
